Description
SieMatic is a German kitchen manufacturer that was founded in 1929 by August Siekmann. The company initially produced kitchen furniture under the names “Erna,” “Hannelore,” and “Ruth.” After suffering damage during World War II, the company resumed kitchen production in 1946. In 1955, August Wilhelm Siekmann took over the management of the company, and in 1960, SieMatic introduced the first kitchen with an integrated handle strip. From then on, the company and brand name SieMatic were used to refer to the entire company. In the 1970s, the company significantly expanded the capacities of its main plant in Löhne, achieving sales of over 100 million German marks for the first time and establishing subsidiaries in other European countries. In 1979, SieMatic entered the US market and founded a subsidiary there. In 1994, Ulrich W. Siekmann took over the management of the company, and in the 1990s, SieMatic was one of the first kitchen furniture manufacturers to use medium-density fiberboard in its products. In 2004, SieMatic opened a new exhibition center at its headquarters and built a new logistics center nearby. Today, SieMatic’s premises cover more than 70,000 square meters. In October 2017, the Chinese Nison Group became the majority shareholder of SieMatic, with the founding family, Ulrich W. Siekmann, and Kathrin André remaining as minority shareholders. In March 2020, the founding family withdrew from the management of the company, and in August 2020, the company was fully acquired by the Chinese Nison Group.
