Description
Arclinea is an Italian design company that was founded in 1925 as a carpentry shop by Silvio Fortuna in Caldogno, Italy. In the 1960s, the company began focusing exclusively on kitchen cabinetry and started designing cabinetry specifically to hold appliances, which had previously been considered a separate element in kitchen design. This led to a more streamlined appearance for kitchens. In the 1970s, the third generation of the Fortuna family, including Silvio, Walter, Marillina, and Gianni, joined the company. Arclinea has worked with various European designers, including Lucci & Orlandini, Carlo Bartoli, Ettore Sottsass e Associati, Roberto Pamio, and Enzo Berti, and has received recognition with awards such as Italy’s Compasso d’Oro and the 2004 Elle Decor Designer of the Year Award. The company has expanded to locations in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North and South America, with its first standalone showroom in the US opening in Boston in 2001. Arclinea is still owned and managed by the Fortuna family, with the fourth generation, Federico, joining in 2010.
