Nobilia-Werke J. Stickling is a kitchen manufacturing company with a long history in Germany. It was founded in 1945 by brothers Willy and Johann Stickling, who initially produced small pieces of furniture and sewing cupboards with a staff of seven. In 1947, the company began producing kitchen buffets and in 1951, construction of a second plant began in Avenwedde. In 1956, the company was divided and Willy Stickling continued to produce under the Wista brand while Johann Stickling specialized in the production of kitchens. In 1965, Johann Stickling handed over responsibility to his sons Heinz and Werner Stickling, and in 1967 the company was renamed Nobilia-Werke J. Stickling and began producing fitted kitchens. In 1970, the first phase of a new plant in Verl-Sürenheide was completed, with production areas initially at 7,000 square meters but eventually expanding to 24,000 square meters in 1974. In 1976, a factory for the production of living room furniture was built in Verl-Kaunitz, and in 1982, a new administration building was built in Sürenheide, followed by the completion of an exhibition center in 1983. In 1989, the production area in Sürenheide was expanded to 75,000 square meters and the production of living room furniture in Kaunitz was sold. In 1993, a new office building with an administration and training center, as well as a two-story production hall with an additional 6,000 square meters, were built. In 1994, the company received certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001, and in 1995, another production hall was built and the production area increased to 105,000 square meters. In 2006, the production area increased by an additional 50,000 square meters when the plant in Verl-Kaunitz went into operation, bringing the total production area of the second plant to 140,000 square meters. In 2019, construction began on a new plant in Saarlouis, which is intended primarily for export to France and is expected to create around 1,000 jobs. A new plant in Gütersloh is also set to go into operation in 2021, and production has already begun at the new plant in Saarlouis.
